The Beverly Hills 9/11 Memorial Committee, consisting of community members and City staff, worked closely with the Port Authority of New York City to obtain an artifact from Ground Zero: a piece of structural steel, which once served to support the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center site. This steel artifact is the central feature of the new Memorial Garden at the Beverly Hills Civic Center. More information can be found at beverlyhills911memorial.org
The Beverly Hills 9/11 Memorial Garden provides a sanctuary for those who wish to honor, sit and reflect, contemplate and remember the events of that day. In addition to the imposing Twin Towers floor beam erected at the center of the site, various vignettes have been incorporated to represent the locations of the three plane crash sites – the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
